Tried forcefully removing and reinstalling a healthy copy of python-twisted-core, still returned to square one:

# dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq python-twisted-core

Did extensive research. All directories intact, no part is hosted on ntfs-3g nor anything outside one ext4 partition:
