My problem was solved by following instructions in:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ttf-mathematica4.1/+bug/299427/comments/4
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ttf-mathematica4.1/+bug/299427/comments/1
in this order. After unpacking one can install by doubleclicking eatch font.
