Comment 4 for bug 299427

This is affecting me too. Until it is fixed, here is the workaround:

sudo rm -fv /var/lib/dpkg/info/ttf-mathematica*
sudo dpkg --purge --force-all ttf-mathematica4.1
sudo apt-get remove -f

Then install the font manually if desired.
