 That's a completely different issue then. If the server doesn't have a
sensible default configuration that should definitely be changed.
Claiming that it shouldn't run when one installs it is though a
different topic.

 I wonder how you claim to know what the intention of people installing
a server package is?

 Then propably the default configuration of that server should be
inspected more deeply and changed to something sensible.

 As long as someone cares for something and maintains it and is
responsive there isn't any reason to remove something just because some
people don't like it. They just won't have to install it, that's all.

 That goes again into the direction of some sensible default where I
agree with you (not on what sensible defaults are (because I still don't
know tremulous) but that the daemon should be configured for those).

 I would expect quite a lot. People installing apache are always aware
of that it runs, likewise with ntp, proftp, dancer-ircd, you name it.
I absolutely see no difference with game servers in this area.
