More diagnostics: this is the output of "perf top" during a transmission run with paused torrents. The CPU usage reported by regular "top" fluctuates between 24% and 48% for the transmission-gtk process. The attachment shows _cairo_bentley_ottmann_tessellate_polygon() using the most: 50.5% (of the non-idle CPU time, I suppose.)
