More info. First this is happening since I upgraded from jaunty to karmic. Now I find that tracker is not doing this if I start it manually from a terminal with '/usr/lib/tracker/trackerd &'. I have the problem with I start it from autostart selecting it and the tracker-applet in Startup Applications in Systems/Preferences.
