In lieu of Canonical fixing this properly (really sloppy folks, this is nearly a year old...), linrunner provide an updated package in one of their PPAs:

https://launchpad.net/~linrunner/+archive/ubuntu/tlp

This shouldn't be necessary, fix it the correct way!
