I tried this with the latest release (totem 1.0.5) and the problem is present there also.

./configure --enable-gtk --enable-mozilla --enable-nautilus --enable-gstreamer

So I guess that would be totem-gstreamer

Happens with
*.avi
*.wmv
*.mpg
