ok, I think we're seeing the same thing.

start up, find a thread with a read, expired article. click on the green dot to
mark that expired article as "unread". the unread count for the thread doesn't
change.

after the first click, it works fine. but the initial change doesn't work so
the unread count on the thread is off by 1.

I'll work on that scenario first.
