This still occurs with the 2002-01-03-03 build on Windows 2000.
Here's the behavior remaining:
If an expired article exists in a thread, and you read all of the messages in the thread, we still display the unread thread icon.
If you run the list-id? url on the newsgroup, and come back to the thread, we still display the unread thread icon.
I don't think this is major, especially since it's news, and happens mostly with expired articles.
