I'm having similar problems in 1:91.10.0+build1-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 with Thunderbird's CPU usage well over 25 % and for long periods and additionally causing root process Xorg to consume 15 % CPU.

A workaround for me is: gfx.webrender.force-disabled = true
Because of this bug: https://launchpad.net/bugs/1950044 I have installed this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~savoury1/+archive/ubuntu/display?field.series_filter=focal Maybe, this is the source for the current problem.
