Magnus, technically this is a different bug: this bug requests a pref to avoid *selecting* the next/previous message *in the message list* when the message is deleted (see comment #13, for example). Reopening for now.

Hmm... sounds like Close Message Window on Delete is setting the wrong pref. The behavior sounds like that controlled by Account Settings -> <account> -> Server Settings -> When I delete a message:. Could you check that, please?
