you don't have to restart - you just have to re-open the folder, i.e., select something else in the folder pane, and then re-select the folder.
We don't resort when things change to avoid having the thread pane jumping around, to avoid the selection moving, etc. I realize some people want this behavior, and maybe we can make it optional.
