Both building from source and the version in proposed fix the issue. I'l stick with the version in proposed then, as when I built from source I just used make install to overwrite the old versions. I suppose leaving the system thinking it's still on a older version (according to apt/dpkg) and having newer files is bad. To be honest I was just too lazy to make a .deb package. Thanks for the tip about proposed and I'l remember that for applications that have patched bugs in the future.
