I renamed a file about 20 times while on the Desktop but using thunar with a path of /home/xubuntu/Desktop - no crash
Moving that file to home/xubuntu/Documents resulted in a crash on the first attempt to rename it.
Moving it to the home directory (/home/xubuntu/) allowed numerous rename attempts without a crash.
Moving the file to Pictures resulted in a crash on the first attempt to rename.
Moving the file to Videos resulted in a crash on the first attempt to rename.
Moving it to /home/xubuntu/ again allowed numerous rename attempts without a crash.
To me it looks like a successful rename is dependent on the location of the file being renamed.
