Bug Description

I successful used thinkfinger tools on my Dell XPS M1330 with Ubuntu 7.10. Now, on the same machine, with Ubuntu 8.04 it does not work.

When I try to add a fingerprint for my user with the command
sudo tf-tool --add-user user

the program gives me the error

ThinkFinger 0.3 (http://thinkfinger.sourceforge.net/)

Two output paths specified, but you may only specify one:
  --add-user
  user

If I try
tf-tool --acquire

the program exits with

ThinkFinger 0.3 (http://thinkfinger.sourceforge.net/)

Initializing...Could not claim USB device.

I am using Kubuntu 8.10, and the device seems to be claimed by X or kdm. Same error message here ("Could not claim USB device.").

As soon as I stop X/kdm, tf-tool --acquire works.

You probably mean Kubuntu 7.10 - I've got the same issue.

No, I'm talking about 8.04 a.k.a. Hardy (sorry about the wrong version).

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
