The problem is due to a directory which is missing in Edgy. It can be fixed as follows:

create: /usr/share/texmacs/TeXmacs/plugins/maple/src
copy in that directory the attached tm_maple_9.c file

Then delete the contents of $HOME/.TeXmacs/bin and launch texmacs, everything should work (with Maple 9.5, at least).
