getnonfreefonts from the texlive distribution has some problems, which are already solved in the upstream version. It downloads a script called getfont from ftp://tug.org/tex/getnonfreefonts/, which is called with #!/bin/sh and fails, it should either be #!/bin/bash or (BETTER:) the newer script getfont2006, which is perl based and should not produce any problem...
if you run getnonfreefonts not as root, it can't change the map-files. This can be solved by a local map file for each user, I didn't find any solution on google or the forums how to generate a local map-file. Is this possible at all?
