Bug Description

I can no longer run htlatex, receiving the following error messages:

--- Warning --- System return: 32512
System call: rungs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dusecropbox -sDEVICE=pngalpha -r300 -sOutputFile="fig//expand-.png" "fig//expand.pdf"
sh: 1: rungs: not found

It appears as though /usr/bin/rungs is not include in the lunar package, despite being there in previous iterations:

I can confirm this. Same on 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat), texlive-base 2023.20240207-1.

rungs should have been patched out of the config files. I think I have
done this in former times, but it seems recent packages still contain
`rungs` instead of `gs` itself.

Best regards

Could you provide a short step-by-step description how to reproduce the issue? Thanks!

I guess the solution is rather easy: We just need to create soft link /usr/bin/rungs, which points to ..../texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/rungs.lua Unfortunately our build system refers to texlive/rungs.tlu, which is the reason, why the link currently is not created.

hille@rasppi2:~/devel/TeXLive/github/texlive-nonbin $ dpkg-deb -c /var/lib/sbuild/build/texlive-base-Ta9dGD/texlive-base_2024.20240401-4_all.deb|grep rungs
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 1331 2022-09-11 21:08 ./usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/rungs.lua
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2024-06-20 11:39 ./usr/bin/rungs -> ../share/texlive/texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/rungs.lua

---------------
texlive-base (2024.20240706-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream snapshot, disable obsolete patch.
  * Create correct soft link to .../texmf-dist/scripts/texlive/rungs.lua
    (LP: #2038452).
  * Sync scripts.lst from texlive-bin.
