I will have a look at this as soon as texlive 2009 is packaged for debian/ubuntu which has just been released upstream.

Teej, please revert the status to new, because this bug should not be closed automatically.

   \PrerenderUnicode{禮}
in the document preemble just before \begin{document} ?
