Bug Description

Binary package hint: tango-icon-theme

I reported this bug in tangerine-icon-theme (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tangerine-icon-theme/+bug/102581) and was already fixed, but it affects tango as well.

As of this week, the new GTK icons have been included in Tango. If we go to /usr/share/icons/Tangerine/20x20/actions, for example, we have the new apply, cancel, OK, yes and no icons.

However, said folder is not mentioned in index.theme so the 16x16 versions of apply, cancel and OK are applied instead of the 20x20 versions, and the new yes and no icons are not applied at all.

Can you include "20x20/actions" in the directory list, and this below:

[20x20/actions]
Size=20
Context=Actions
Type=Fixed

...for the icons to be properly shown? Thanks in advance.

Well, they don't appear to be in the tango package in latest feisty yet.

Oh, that's correct, I thought this was the same bug as Tangerine.

But they should in fact be there. There should be a 20x20/actions folder with gtk-apply, gtk-cancel, gtk-ok, gtk-yes and gtk-no, and index. theme should link to it.

Yeah, it would be nice, I dropped those in myself on my own system. But the way things are going we probably won't see that until Feisty+1. Also this is basically the same bug as the 'doesn't cover all gtk stock icons' one and will probably end up being resolved at the same time.

Why's that?

The 20x20 icons were made in the tango marathon the other day, in fact I'm gonna attach them here. They're right there, they just need to be added to the right folder and included in index.theme.

It just doesn't make sense to have to wait six months to get this fixed.

Yeah, I wish it would be fixed, I just haven't seen much interest from any developers in doing this. They're already in Tangerine so it's only Tango that's affected, not very visible to most people.

Changed in tango-icon-theme:

I must add some pressure here. Very few are the third party icon themes which "inherit" Human or Tangerine, but A LOT of icon themes inherit Tango and gnome.

Please please please, don't limit this to Human & Tangerine. These themes are the default but they are not the most widely used. Covering Tango would cover the last big remaining chunk (ideally, we should cover gnome icon theme). It's a shame I am forced to use Tangerine (the pale orange icons in toolbars do not work well with my eyes) because Tango is now the "less complete theme".

Actually, Tangerine inherits Tango!
Why the duck was this not fixed in Tango directly instead of doing it in Tangerine as a priority? Doing it in Tango would have fixed Tangerine anyway.

Too late now if it wasn't before, sadly.. marking this as a dupe again.
