Incorrect. The problem is that upon installation, VMWare Workstation 8 *destroys* the shutdown sequence of the system. Merely adding a mount point doesn't matter, because the shutdown scripts are designed to methodically unmount all mount points in order regardless of their origin; but this doesn't work when /etc/rc6.d has been scrambled, because 'reboot' suddenly gets called in parallel with the unmounting.
