lol I'm relieved to see dmiller and others upstream had exactly the same concerns as me :)

If he decided wasn't bad enough to reject it's good enough for me, although it is still a really bad design.

I think the 73-usb-net-by-mac.rules needs to be changed to account for this weird situation, let's see what Debian thinks.
