I have the same problem with Lubuntu 15.10 and it was a fresh install, however my computer hangs on shut down and reboot. The alt sysRq only works to reboot and it doesn't work if i've already reached the "reached target shutdown" as my keyboard isn't responsive at that point.

i did the following above about the linux image kernels and i have the following:

linux-image-4.2.0-16-generic install
linux-image-4.2.0-27-generic install
linux-image-extra-4.2.0-16-generic install
linux-image-extra-4.2.0-27-generic install
linux-image-generic install

I am assuming those are the most recent?
