I don't think it makes sense to change this in the 3.16 kernel, which is currently what's being used in vivid. On the surface it makes sense to disable CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER in the 3.18 branch, except that ultimately the vivid kernel will also be released for trusty. In theory things should still just work, but potentially there are some corner cases which still rely on the fallback.
In the end I guess we probably ought to change it though.
