I'm using Lubuntu 13.10 on an HP G62 and also have this issue.

When mine wakes from suspend it comes back, then very quickly switches back to a bash screen with a few lines that don't appear for long enough for me to read, then goes back to whetever I was doing.

Sometimes it has network and sometimes it doesn't.
