Updates will not complete if the system-image service times out

Hi,

On a new update, it gets automatically downloaded.

Leave your phone unattended for some time, press install & restart, it errors saying no update has been downloaded.

Reentering the settings, downloading and installing immdeiately works.

I had to turn off persistence because of a different bug, but what is very likely happening is that during your wait, s-i-dbus exited and thus its state (i.e. "I just downloaded an update and am ready to apply it") was lost.

I need to rethink the best way to handle this.

This still seems to be occurring as late as build 96

I think I'm seeing this in the following way:

1. see new image, try to update
2. 100% download completed
3. try to apply and restart
4. get error message saying 'failed to apply'

I can get the latest image if I adb reboot recovery.

I would recommend bumping priority on this.

I don't know why you're getting a "failed to apply" message. The only way to debug that is if you can attach the /var/log/system-image/client.log file from your device.

However, the "I have to redownload everything" is LP: #1217098

So for now, I'm going to dupe it to that bug, but if you can provide the log file, I'll look at it to see if the "failed to apply" is a problem in system-image.
