Bug Description

Use the updates panel.
Checks for Downloads and offers the chance to Download them
Press Download

The firs issue is you need to press download again for it to get all the files, there is no indication of this.

Download completes and you offered the chance to install and restart

If you walk away from the phone while the downloads are finishing, odds are the service timed out and you see this in the log:
SystemImage dbus main loop exited

Now pressing the Install button results in an immediate error that "updates cannot be applied"

At this point in fact rebooting the phone will do the update via "adb reboot recovery".

Didier, Barry ... do you have any idea if that's an issue with the client or the server?

I think this is due to the service side.

However, new system-cli daemon is just out (startinf from image 73). So there should be no more issue of "system-cli timed out, I need to restart from scratch (and ending up in a bad state)". There will be new bugs, but this one should be fixed :)

To clarify what happens - the download completes and the UI is prompting the user to do the install. If the user delays the underlying client code looks like it closes a dbus connection after some timeout, then the UI part fails because the connection is gone. So its all on client.

Just mentioning in case it could still happen with the new downloader since this happens after the download successfully completed.

as per spec, the system-image daemon (even if waken up after a while) will send an error message that will be picked up by the daemon. (it just doesn't send anything right now)
