I reported a splix bug (964665) as I thought it just affected my Samsung printer, but it's clearly system-config-printer as it affects all printing; even to a PDF.

I also have an AMD64 on a Lenovo IdeaPad platform.

I just tried printing on my old Lenovo 32 bit with an Intel chip and ran system-config-printer immediately afterwards with no issue at all. Perhaps it's an AMD or AMD 64 bit problem.

It no longer affects me, and in any case I'm running Ubuntu Gnome Trusty now as my primary OS. There are no printing issues.
