I also have the same issue, strangely only happening when started from gnome shell (starting from unity opens english UI, starting from terminal also opens english UI), synaptic opens in Hungarian even if both `locale` and `sudo locale` only mention english with UTF8, not even a word about hungarian. See the screenshot attached.
