Bug Description

Nautilus crashed everytime i opened a directory containing a .swf file. Moving the file to the Desktop caused Nautilus to crash and restart continously.

I was able to remedy the problem by uninstalling libswfdec0.3 (which also uninstalled gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.8-plugins, gstreamer0.8-swfdec, and swf-player). I know this is not in the base Ubuntu package set, but maybe this could be handled more elegantly by Nautilus.

Do you still have the issue? Do you have an example to attach to the bug or an URI to point?

What version of Ubuntu do you use? Could you get a backtrace with libglib2.0-0-dbg libgnomevfs2-0-dbg and nautilus-dbg installed? That's likely to be a libswfdec issue. Could you point to an example creating the issue or attach a small one to the bug?

The same issue here. Very simple to reproduce.

Dapper release, nautilus 2.14.3-0ubuntu

Variant 1: Take attachment below (test.swf) and place it on desktop, nautilus should crash immediately.

Variant 2: make an openoffice presentation, choose "Export" and save it in "swf" format on the desktop. nautilus crashes immediately.

The crash comes with the statement that this has been closed unexpectedly (my error message is german).

dune73, your bug is a libswfdec0.3 issue similar to bug #57098

Dan, could you get a backtrace with nautilus-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg installed?

Hi Sebastien,

sorry for the lack of reply. The problem only happens with some flash files (such as this one http://sandkasse.chrillesen.dk/fight.swf ), other swf files cause nautilus to crash when trying to get the properties by right clicking.

I'm using Dapper with nautilus 2.14.3-0ubuntu1. Unfortunately, I can't get a backtrace because I can't install nautilus-dbg (at least not from the repositories). It seems that it's older than nautilus, and depends on the older version.

Works fine with git.
Could it be inside cairo? I know that file and it has some weird drawing commands.
A stack trace would be nice

There were 2 flash files involved in this bug report : fight & test.swf
None of them crash with current git (post 0.5.3)

Closing as Fix commited
Would close it as Fix Released once 0.5.4 is out
