Bug Description

I'm not sure of the exact packages that caused this.
My system is kubuntu 8.04 (Ubuntu 8.04.1) with all the latest updates (Oct 16, 2008). About 2 weeks ago a Java update occurred (I believe sun-java6-jre, sun-java6-plugin (6-07-3ubuntu2), and/or sun-java6-bin) and I lost Java access in firefox. The fix is to relink the plugin (sudo ln -fs /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/). This is a problem, for less experienced users and since Ubuntu is supposed to make Linux accessible to the masses I think it should be resolved.

Thank you.

Also too, there is a new java plugin that isn't being enabled by default. libnpjp2.so instead of libjavaplugin_oji.so
