BTW: look on the upstream gnome bug - the underlying problem in gstreamer binding was fixedover a year and a half ago:

The problem was corrected in gstreamermm-0.10.9.1 and upwards (I just checked to make sure). Maybe ubuntu and debian could use a later version than 0.10.9? As I said in the above mentioned thread, that would fix the problem. I'm sorry
