There is no installation image named "ubuntu-mate-server 20-10". What was exact name?
You are right. it was late that day. almost midnight after finishing a 12 hour workday. it is the ubuntu-20.10-live-server-amd64.iso that i used to install.

i may jumped to early to a conclusion based on a previus version of the ubuntu-mate-"version"-desktop-amd64.iso so i tested the ubuntu-mate-20.10-desktop-amd64.iso where it was solved.

this may be not in the installer but the package named ubuntu-mate-desktop
