I have since gone back to 11.10 and with the Nvidia accelerated graphics
driver enabled,things work fine.On 12.04 there are no proprietary
drivers in use and I can't get the one that is in use with 11.10.This is
an old computer,dual boot with 11.10 and 12.04.Looks like I should stop
updating operating systems and stick with 11.10 as long as it still
works for me.
