Bug Description

I see that the package of sql-ledger in Ubuntu 14.04 is recently old. SQL Ledger project released an update five days ago. Please catch this before 14.04 releases stable. Thanks!

Any update available on getting the Ubuntu repository updated and in sync with the official stable release of SQL Ledger before the trusty deep freeze? Seems silly to release a LTS version without updating software to the latest available version from the developers.

I would like to point out that there is an alternative git-repository at https://github.com/Tekki/sql-ledger that I am contributing to. So far the German translation is now fully complete and a new German chart of accounts is underway as well. We also have the 3.0.6 version of SQL Ledger.

Note that while it didn't make tt into trusty (14.04 LTS), version v3.0.8 of SQL-Ledger did make it into xenial (16.04 LTS).
Also, there have already been open bugs in both Debian[1] and Ubuntu[2] requesting that the most current version (currently v3.2.5) be packaged.

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will be coming soon... best try to get the latest stable version of SQL Ledger before 18.04 code freezes.

Indeed and I agree but the bug when running on Perl v5.26 will need to be resolved first, by either a patch in the package or (preferably) a new upstream version that can handle running on that version of Perl.
See also Debian bug https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=869994

Also; given a PPA to use, a backport of v3.08 or even of v3.25 could be made available for trusty at least for testing purposes.

I would like to confirm that there are indeed issues with Perl 5.26 and SQL Ledger 3.25 which are pretty much the same as in Debian Bug 869994 and on my openSUSE box.

I haven't tried the workaround of commenting out the line of code as indicated by the original SQL Ledger author but I will take a closer look.

Console output from my openSUSE box is attached. I also have a "Bionic Beaver" development server for testing purposes as I am also very keen to have SQL Ledger available as an Ubuntu package.

The Bionic Beaver server apparently has 54 registered patches applied to its current Perl version as opposed to the openSUSE "Tumbleweed" release.

Note that version 3.2.6-1 of the sql-ledger package was uploaded to Debian unstable on 6 July 2018, at which point I also became the maintainer. Barring any issues, I anticipate the new version of the package to transition to Ubuntu on or after Wednesday, 11 July 2018, at which point I will be looking into backporting that version as necessary.
