Right after logging in, can ypu run the " top" command in a terminal window and keep it running. Then print a job and see in the terminal window whether there is "cupsd" and/or processes owned by "lp" under the ones with highest memory consumption. Please tell which processes these are, how much CPU and memory they consume (copy and paste the "top" output) and see whether they go away after some time and whether from then on your printers are visible again.
