I've had the same experience as Cliff Hall; however I'm using SoundJuicer 2.22 with Ubuntu 8.04 (beta).

The xingmux parameter makes no difference to how the CD rips--I still end up with 128 cbr files instead of 160-192 vbr or 160-256 vbr :-(
