I've noticed the same problem. This is clearly a security issue, and clearly a bug. The dialog box says "Install security updates without confirmation", yet the updates are not installed until the user enters a password. This is, at best, misleading. At the very least, the wording in the dialog box should read "Prompt user for password and install security updates".

I've only recently been trying out Ubuntu, and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that my computer was getting security updates automatically. Yes, I can write a cron job to do it, but I'm guessing that the typical Ubuntu user won't do this, leaving the majority of Ubuntu machines vulnerable to security problems.

This needs to be fixed, not dismissed.
