Bug Description

I'm not sure where to file bugs like this, so I'm filing here.

If you purchase the DEFCON game (package 'defcon') and run it, it says 'Invalid Key' at the bottom and pops up a dialog asking for your authorization key. Or you can play the demo.

Seems wrong.

Michael if you look at the email that thanked you for buying the game the key is in there or you can goto https://software-center.ubuntu.com/subscription look for defcon and the key will be listed there too

Hope that helps

Yup! It's there, thanks! My bad. Now I just have to figure out how to get it into the software, since copy and paste didn't work. :)

The log says:
2012-03-30 10:21:50,214 - softwarecenter.backend - INFO - adding license key for 'defcon'

So something is happening, its supposed to be available in /opt/defcon/authkey
There should be some additional information in the /var/log/syslog file from aptdaemon.

Unfortunately, I've since entered the correct key, so that file just contains the real key now (world-readable!). I don't know what got put there by AptDaemon. Though I will note that when DEFCON came up, it had a few characters of garbage unicode at the front of the key, so presumably the contents of that file were junk.

Based on Michael's comment #5, I've set this back to "confirmed". Dave, could you please test this and try to reproduce the error? Thanks! I'll assign to you for this step.

Right so on precise it now has the ability to write a key to the root directory of the application.
If an application utilises this like transitions dj then the user doesn't need to add a key to the application.

However most of the apps currently available with keys are ports of windows apps where you need to type the key in separately.

As for the issue you see with the application itself I will look into that and see what is what.

This is one of the apps not making use of the file for the key.

The key itself seems to be the big bug here I'm guessing it shouldn't be readable by the world, so we will look into that.
