Please give more information about your system, at least the following info :

1) Ubuntu version (10.04 (Lucid), 10.10 (Maverick), etc)
2) Version of software-center (See Help->About in software-center)
3) Whether you regularly update the system.
4) Whether you use untrusted PPAs. (default: no).
5) If you have Backports-repository enabled (default: no).
