I hadn't noticed you couldn't place a real button in that area. As an alternative solution, would it be possible to have just the arrow button there, instead of placing it inside a hardcoded graphic? Maybe give it a mouseover highlight effect so you know it can be clicked?

I'm attaching a new mockup, just to check the effect.
