I have the same problem - window doesn't show up if selected from Dash on first attempt, on second attempt I just get a blank window.
If I try start it from the terminal I get this:
user@user-XPS-M1530:~$ software-center
2012-10-21 18:59:04,798 - softwarecenter.ui.gtk3.app - INFO - setting up proxy 'None'
2012-10-21 18:59:04,809 - softwarecenter.db.database - INFO - open() database: path=None use_axi=True use_agent=True

I have tried deleting the cache with no change:
sudo rm -r ~/.cache/software-center/
