snapd developer here. I've been working on a feature that would greatly improve the user experience of accessing arbitrary files. The problem with the feature is that it is still in early stages, both userspace and kernel, so we cannot rely or ship it.

I want to re-assure you that this is being worked on and our goal is to make it possible to just work, like people were used to.
