Hi Heinrich, I tried:

$ autopkgtest-buildvm-ubuntu-cloud -v --release mantic

on my amd64 Mantic system, and looks like it worked:

[ OK ] Reached target poweroff.target - System Power Off.
[ 500.184102] reboot: Power down
Moving image into final destination ./autopkgtest-mantic-amd64.img

Which host system are you using?
