The machine is a new Dell Inspiron Model# l15RV-1430BLK. It has 4GB of
Ram, and a Intel Pentium 2117U processor. It was pre-loaded with Windows
8, I followed the instructions here:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/221835/installing-ubuntu-on-a-pre-installed-uefi-supported-windows-8-system

Once I got Ubuntu installed I was not able to boot either OS. The UEFI
firmware has a setting for UEFI boot with secure boot off. So I tried
that. After that Ubuntu loaded, then I ran boot-repair per the tutorial
mentioned above. Note: during boot-repair I got this URL:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5806683. Once I ran boot repair I could load
either Windows 8 or Ubuntu, which was my goal. The tutorial did ask that
I submit a bug related to the secure boot.
Also note the boot menu is Grub 2. I have made a few minor changes to
the Grub menu, just to clean it up, but other than that I have been
using both Windows and Ubuntu without any other changes. There are a few
errors that pop-up during boot, but these just go away and the OS boots.
If you want to know what they are, I will try to catch them and write it
down on my next reboot. The text disappears pretty fast, and they are
not noticeable errors. I think there are different errors for both
Windows and Ubuntu, but I have not paid close enough attention yet.

It may also be important to note that during my install the Windows OS
was not detected. I did partition my drive using Windows Disk Manager.
When I ran the Ubuntu install, I selected "Something Else" and created
the partitions I needed there. I also installed the boot manager to the
disk's MBR. But the Live disk menu was definitely different that what I
am used to, so I assume it detected the UEFI firmware.

Let me know if you need any more information. I do want my computer
running the optimum configuration, so I would love to hear any tips.

Thanks,

Chad
