Same problem here: after upgrading from Karmic to Lucid, I can start the sbackup GUI, but when I attempt to run a backup I get the message that a backup process has began, but it only appears briefly in the task list then disappears. No backup is created. Running sbackupd from the terminal creates a backup, however.
