Hi,
Is there any progress on this subject? Samba folder sharing still does not work out-of-the-box. The first time I ran into this, it took me over two hours to find out that I had to add a user with smbpasswd -a, and I'm not exactly a linux newbie either.
Maybe it would be good to have smbpasswd -a being executed automatically the first time you share a folder from Gnome, perhaps using a little dialog window. Or maybe setup automatic linux-samba user synchronization?
