This is definitely not the right fix. security=share is insecure by nature, and is begging users to do rather painfully bad things to their own setup.
If the smbpasswd entry isn't being created when you create a new share in GNOME (I thought this was working in breezy, but maybe I'm misremembering this here), that needs to be fixed to work.
