This problem "Networking Ubuntu to XP or a Mac impossible by default" is due to 'security=user' in /etc/samba/smb.conf
so i think this bug is duplicate of #32067

If it's not the same case re-open the bug :)

If you want to make a bug/wish create a new bug.
